Interesting Information about Government Inter College (GIC), Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh.

Inside Main Gate
Government Inter College, Bijnor (Hindi: राजकीय इण्टर कॉलेज, बिजनौर) or more popularly know as GIC Bijnor, was established by British as "Bijnor District School" in 1872. Well, according to the government records, It was functioning as a Primary School since 1872. However, the students' records are present in the college since 1881.

That time, Uttar Pradesh was known as North-Western Province & Avadh, and there was no Education Department. GIC used to come under the Department of Public Instructions.


The very first student who was enrolled into the college, was Jyoti Prasad Kayasth son of Shri Bhagirath Prasad Kayasth. He was a resident of Bijnor.

    I studied in GIC Bijnor from 1971 to 1975(class 6 to 10th).Sweet emotional memories. I love GIC Bijnor. ... Naeem Ahmad Siddiqui, Under Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forests, CGO Complex, New Delhi.

    I was looking for a friend Rakesh Bhatnagar with whom I studied here from 1985 - 1989 (8th to 11th) and came across this blog. Great to see the pictures of the school which is very close my heart and had a big hand in what I did later in my life including going to IIT. I live in Dallas (USA)now and still think a lot about the school and Bijnor but I could never come back to Bijnor after I left in 1989.

    Very good information, good to know GIS is soo old college. I studied here from 1987 to 1994 (6th to 12th). I still love my college, realy those days were the best days of life I use to eat bair, mung daal, churan and drinking sugar cane juice during interval time. great time passed. Missing !!!

    nice school I studied here 1980-81. paidal hi school jate the aur kala churan acid wala , Luxmi sweet ki tikki ,wah maja aa gaya nice memories.

    I did my High school in 1996 from GIC, Bijnor. Those days looks like fairy tales now. Our teachers were strict and above all just the sight of Principle was scary enough to leave the way he comes. Still remember playing cricket in school ground with school furniture's broken pieces....I am just stuck in Nineties...Thanks for sharing these Pics.

    I did my schooling here from 6th to 12th. Passed out in 2004. Jane kahan gayai wo din. I was permanent resident of Bijnor but now lives in Edmonton, Canada. My memories of school fascinates me and sometime I feel should have never grown out or be able to go back in time and relive those school days.
